DESCRIPTION: American Waltham Watch Co,, Waltham, Mass., model 1908 "Vanguard", wind indicator, 16 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted to 5 positions, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, diamond endstone, cut bimetallic balance, double roller, gold jewel settings, gold timing screws, and micrometric regulator in a gold filled, screw back and bezel, engine turned and engraved, open face case with Arabic numeral, double sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel spade and poker hands, serial #18131637, c1910.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dings and pin pricks; Back with shallow dimple; Scratches on outer surface of case; Gold filled with minor brassing; Minor scratches on crystal. DIAL: Tiny flake in sunk section of wind indicator; Specks of dirt / dust. HANDS: Minor oxidation; seconds missing. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Minor scratches on ratchet wheel; A few spots of oxide on winding wheels; Regulator with minor specks of oxide; Jewel settings with minor marring; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Wind indicator not working, star piece pinion leaves broken.
